1. Go back to bed and wait. Time is the only proven hangover cure. Hangover symptoms will usually last up to 24 hours.

2. Some amount of alcohol surely cures a hangover (for a time), but one should beware of further drinking.

3. When you wake up in the morning drink a large amount of nonalcoholic beverages in order to reduce alcohol-induced dehydration.

4. Getting some food will give you the energy to fight fatigue and metabolize the alcohol out of your system.

5. Nausea and fatigue can be reduced by eating bland foods containing complex carbohydrates, such as toast or crackers.

6. Consumption of fruits and juices will mitigate hangover intensity.

7. Eggs contain cysteine, which helps fight morning-after poisonous chemicals called free radicals, which accumulate in the liver.

8. Honey is recommended as a fructose and glucose source.

9. Taking B-complex and vitamin C can help restore electrolyte balance (disrupted due to water loss) within the body.

10. It is believed that Vitamin B-1 (Thiamin) will reduce feelings of tiredness and depression, while increasing appetite and alertness.

11. Antacids (including baking soda and bananas as a natural antacid) may reduce nausea and gastritis.

12. Aspirin, ibuprofen or naproxen may alleviate the headache but should be used cautiously - these medications will compound alcohol-induced gastritis. Instead Alka-Seltzer is recommended.

13. Acetaminophen (paracetamol) should be avoided, because alcohol metabolism enhances acetaminophen's toxicity to the liver.

14. Caffeine (as a stimulant) can make you feel better but it causes stomach irritation and does not counter the effects of the alcohol. In addition, caffeine is also a diuretic, so it would be better to avoid coffee, cola, tea, Red Bull and the like.

15. Light exercise increases the amount of oxygen in the body. Oxygen improves the metabolic rate, and thus increases the speed at which toxins are broken down.
